Terms and conditions of participation

Purposes and functions
Maqom Art International Forum was established to popularize widely one of the rare genres of classical and musical art of maqamat - classical music of the east, preserve and develop, to expand public attitude of youth to maqomat art, strengthen relations of friendship among nations, make scientific and creative cooperation, expand cultural and spiritual relations internationally.
Maqom Art International Forum (referred to as the “Forum”) is held in 2018 year, once in two years, by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The following events of the Forum:
A scientific-practical conference, on the subject “Development perspectives of maqom art: theoretical and practical foundations” (hereinafter referred to as “A scientific-practical conference”);
Competition of maqom ensembles, singers, and instrumentalists (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”);
Solo concerts of master performers of Uzbekistan and the World.
Music bands (up to 7 persons), solo singers and instrumentalists of maqamat, musician-scientists, Festival directors, music managers, and journalists are invited to the Maqom Art International Forum.
Famous music scientists of the world, artists, creative teams, composers, specialists, and honorable guests may participate in the Forum by invitation of the Forum Organizers.
Applicants should fill in a special applicant’s form with attached materials performing programs, and files and send it to the Organizing Committee’s email – maqomartinternationalforum@gmail.com.
The Organizing Committee will announce the list of participants, who will be invited to the Forum till 1st June 2024.
Forum Organizers will take responsibility for only internal expenses in Uzbekistan (meals, accommodation, and transportation). Also, Forum organizers may consider the matter of covering the international flight of participants.
International Juries
The Organizational Committee arranges international juries which include 7 persons to assess participants’ performances during the competition.
In the process of assessing the main criteria are:
Original-national features of maqamat - classical music of the East;
Artistic and esthetic matters;
Performers’ skills;
At the scope of the Forum, winners of the competition are rewarded with a diploma, statuette, and the following fees:
“Grand Prize” – 15 000 USA dollars
1st place – 2, for each 10,000 USA dollars
2nd place – 2, for each 7,000 USA dollars
3rd place – 2, for each 5,000 USA dollars
Also, within the scope of the Forum, to support and encourage participants on the following nominations: “Professional maqom singer”, “Professional maqom instrumentalist”, “Professional master of maqom”, “Professional maqom propagandist”, “Professional young maqom artist”, “Professional maqom composer” are rewarded with special gifts and premiums.
Rights of Forum Organizer
To permit for broadcasting and transmitting Forum participants’ performs to other organizations;
To prepare and distribute audio, video, printed press, and other media products during the Forum;
