According to the World Bank, today the annual turnover of transport services in the world is $4.3 trillion. At the same time, 110 billion tons of cargo and more than a trillion passengers are transported annually. The system employs at least 100 million people. These are considerable numbers. This means that the network occupies a certain place in the development chain.
Today, the countries of Central Asia, in particular Uzbekistan, are striving to form a transport system that can fully support the implementation of political, economic and other tasks. Increasing the efficiency of transport logistics is especially important for our country, which is geographically landlocked. A lot of work is being done in Central Asia to implement transport projects in an atmosphere of mutual trust. The necessary conditions are being created for the further development of transport and transit potential. This plays an important role in the development of international transport corridors in the region. In June 2016, the Angren-Pap railway was opened. The line, being an important link in the China-Central Asia-Europe railway, provides access from China to the countries of Central and South Asia along the shortest route and serves the development of the economy of Uzbekistan. The East-West project is aimed at establishing transport links between China and Europe. An important link in this transport corridor is the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. This project plays a significant role in establishing regular transportation of goods from Turkey and Europe to the countries of Central Asia, China and back.
