New Uzbekistan is transforming into a technologically advanced nation
The IT park, established in 2017 under the leadership of our state's head, currently plays a crucial role in the rapid advancement of our country's IT sector. Only seven years ago, the IT sector was virtually unfamiliar in Uzbekistan. In a relatively short span, the field of information technology has risen to prominence. The emerging Uzbekistan is progressively becoming a more enticing destination for foreign nations.
In 2017, the total count of IT companies stood at 147. Thanks to the establishment of the IT park, their number has seen a remarkable surge, and today, it boasts 1,500 resident companies. Among them, renowned names like Mohirdev, TASS Vision, MAAB Innovation, Green White Solutions, G-core, Modme, and Aliftech have thrived.
Thanks to the tax and customs incentives offered, IT park residents are generating more employment opportunities, leading to a growing number of qualified IT professionals in the country. These residents have created job opportunities for 22.5 thousand individuals, who are now contributing effectively to well-established companies such as Revotech, iTransition, Datasite, and iTechArt.
Our country continues to successfully harness its potential and is actively expanding opportunities to attract foreign companies.
The implementation of a system of incentives and preferences is designed to boost the presence of foreign companies among the IT park residents. Specifically, residents of the IT park are granted the privilege to remunerate foreign founders and foreign experts in foreign currency by transferring funds to international payment cards.
IT specialists, investors, and foreign founders of the IT park can obtain an IT visa valid for up to three years.
To expedite the establishment and registration of IT companies as residents of the IT park, the TashRush program has been launched. This program operates on a "one-stop-shop" principle, streamlining the service provision process. As a result, the IT park aids foreign IT specialists in adapting to their new surroundings and facilitates their employment in resident companies. This approach allows IT companies to complete the legal entity registration process using a "single window" approach, secure office spaces, and select employees more efficiently.
It's worth noting that just seven years ago, there were only four foreign IT companies operating in our country. Today, there are 221 of them, including well-known companies like Epam Systems, Exadel, Dyninno, East Games, AMC Bridg, Vention, and Qulix.
In 2017, the cumulative volume of services offered by IT park residents amounted to 179.9 billion soums. By the conclusion of 2022, this figure had grown substantially by 32.2 times, reaching 5.8 trillion soums. The export volume in 2017 was $700,000, and by 2022, it had surged to $140.9 million, with the number of exporting enterprises tripling.
The primary export destinations for IT park residents include the USA, Great Britain, Singapore, and CIS countries.
In total, 12 regional branches of the IT park have been established across the country, along with representative offices in the USA and Germany.
Starting in 2021, the range of activities permitted for IT park residents has expanded from four to 18. These now encompass services in robotics, data processing, IT outsourcing, venture financing and acceleration programs implementation, and the development of multimedia, design, and animation products using software.
Simultaneously, a funding of over 82.8 billion soums was allocated to support the implementation of 113 promising startup projects that have effectively completed the incubation and acceleration programs at the IT park. Notable examples of these successes include TASS Vision, Billz, IMAN, Sugʼurta bozor, Modme, and Arzon Apteka.
According to experts, the development of the entire country is now closely tied to the progress of the IT sector. This is why Uzbekistan, like other advanced nations, is prioritizing the creation of favorable conditions to enhance the IT ecosystem.
If the rapid development of the IT sector in Uzbekistan persists, and growth rates are sustained, we can confidently predict that in the next 5-10 years, Uzbekistan will consolidate its position in the global IT market.
