IV Samarkand Forum on Human Rights - June 13-14, 2024

We are excited to announce the IV Samarkand Forum on Human Rights, an esteemed international conference set to take place in our country on June 13-14, 2024. This year's forum will feature three plenary sessions, held both in-person and online.

The primary goal of this year's Samarkand Forum is to address the wide-ranging impacts of climate change on human rights. Participants will engage in thorough discussions, share experiences, and explore best practices from around the world. This exchange aims to foster a deeper understanding and generate actionable insights in this critical field.

The forum will emphasize the development of concrete recommendations and solutions to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on human rights. It will provide a platform for experts from various fields to collaborate on effective strategies and approaches, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the protection of human rights in the face of a changing climate.

The National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with the "Strategy of Development" Center, are the primary organizers of the forum. Our international partners include the United Nations team in Uzbekistan, specifically the Office of the Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in Uzbekistan, the Regional Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia, the Office of the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan, the Office of the Coordinator of Projects in Uzbekistan of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, as well as the Friedrich Ebert and Konrad Adenauer Foundations.

The forum is expected to host 200 experts, including national and international specialists, climate change professionals, government officials, civil society representatives, media personnel, researchers, business leaders, and members of various international organizations.

We look forward to a productive and enlightening forum that will advance our collective efforts to safeguard human rights amidst the challenges of climate change.
