Climate change is one of the most serious threats to sustainable development and human well-being in the 21st century. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the average global surface temperature has increased by 1.1°C compared to pre-industrial times, and the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has reached record levels.
