In 2017, Uzbekistan's President introduced the Action Strategy for 2017-2021, consisting of five priority areas for socio-economic development. Secondly, Uzbekistan has secured the 30th spot in the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) rankings, making it the top-ranked country in Central Asia for open data.

The Samarkand will host the International Conference on Food Security on September 7-8. The conference will aim to address the global objective of achieving Zero Hunger by creating efficient pathways for food supplies between participating countries and beyond. It will also evaluate the current state of food security in Eurasian nations. Furthermore, the discussions will center around the challenges facing the agri-food system that impede the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (2) and explore solutions to these problems.
