Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov met in Tokyo with President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiro Tanaka. Issues of further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism and cultural heritage were discussed at the meeting.

A Presidential resolution "On measures to accelerate the development of cooperation with the Turkic states in the field of tourism" was adopted.

Recently, tourism as a socio-economic phenomenon has direct impact on the development of all related infrastructure. Tourism currently accounts for about 6% of the world’s gross domestic product, 7% of global investment, 11% of global consumer spending and 5% of all tax revenue.

The construction of the Samarkand tourist center Silk Road Samarkand, a large-scale project, a symbol of New Samarkand, designed to become a modern landmark throughout Central Asia, is nearing completion. 

Within the framework of the XI session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, for the first time, a decision was made to declare Khiva the "Tourism Capital of the Islamic World".

From 31 May to 2 June 2022, Singapore hosted the Halal In Travel - Global Summit 2022, dedicated to the restoration and development of the Muslim tourism market. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov spoke at the event in an online format.
